The Ministry of Education said that there will be two times in a year when students take important board exams. They can keep their best score. They also said how schools teach students will change because of a new plan. This plan comes from the National Education Policy of 2020. New books for this plan will be ready by 2024.
In the new plan, students in grades 11 and 12 must study two languages. At least one of them must be an Indian language.
The exams will be different too. Right now, exams are hard because students need to remember a lot. But the new exams will test if students understand and can do things, not just remember facts.
The ministry said, “Students can take board exams two times a year. This helps them do well. They can choose when to take exams based on what they studied. They can keep their best score.”
Students won’t be limited to only studying certain subjects like arts or science. They can choose more freely.
People who make and grade the board exams will need to learn how to do it better.
In the new plan, teachers won’t need to cover all the pages of a book in class. And the cost of books will be reduced.
